You’ve Got Your Troubles, I’ve Got Mine
Going through a difficult season?
I recently saw someone ask this question:
“If everyone in the world wrote their problems down and tossed them into a bag, would you risk trading yours by randomly pulling out someone else’s?”
When I stopped to think about the unimaginable pain and hardships so many people endure, it put my own struggles into perspective. Suddenly, my problems felt much smaller. Even if your first instinct is to say yes, chances are you’d still hesitate, because deep down, we all know things could always be worse.
Personally, I know I have far more blessings than burdens. In fact, I’m probably more at risk of not appreciating all God has given me enough. But even so, we all experience pain, brokenness, and difficult seasons. The fact that we get to experience joy and good days at all is a gift.
Thankfully, God cares about every concern we carry—big or small—so we should never hesitate to bring them to Him in prayer. But maybe this perspective shift can also help remind us that God has uniquely equipped each of us to carry the challenges we’ve been given.
So tell me… would you trade?
